Welcome to the October edition of What's afloat the monthly newsletter from floatopia!

You wrote the book!

Rather than me continually banging on about how great floating is I thought I would let some of you contribute, so in a new regular slot I will be sharing one or two of your comments left in the guest book over the last month.

  • What a brilliant cure for Jet Lag! An out of body experience.
    Dave B

  • This was my 5th float! I can guarantee that the float experience gets better each time. After a VERY stressful week I feel as though I'm on a cloud. Thank you!

Sleep... easier

We all need sleep to enable us to function optimally. Unfortunately the times when it is really important for us to be at our best are often when we are busiest and have little time for proper rest. The lack of time and the pressure of work often also interrupt our normal sleep patterns.

Floatation can be thought of as turbo rest, it is often said that a single hour floating is equivalent to the recuperative powers of four hours sleep. Also the proven reduction in stress hormones means that after a float one is more grounded and focussed and better able to deal with the problem to hand.

So if you know anyone who has no time, seems to be always fire fighting or is losing sleep... do recommend investing some precious time in a float as they will almost certainly gain time in the long run!

Top therapists

As you may already know we have some excellent practitioners working at floatopia:

Sarah Junor is an extremely experienced massage therapist currently engaged by the Royal Ballet and previously with Wasps Rugby Club, she works at floatopia on Thursdays, Saturdays and some Sundays. You will struggle to find a better deep tissue massage in West London! £55 hour, £33 half hour

Alex Johnson is a talented osteopath who has built an impressive client list in the last year. He is particularly sought for his cranio-sacral work on infants and children. He practices at floatopia on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. £45 1st consultation, £35 follow ups. (£5 less for children)

Mathilde Barbier continues to run her popular Baby Massage course at floatopia on Wednesday mornings. The course consists of 5 weekly classes and is suitable for babies from 3 weeks to crawling. £75 for 5 week course

Free floats

Congratulations to Carol Topman, Laura North and Mike Broadbelt who were the first three to correctly name Dr John Lilly as the inventor of floatation. They each get a free float to be taken by the end of November.

This month a free float to the first three people who can reply to this mail with the chemical formula of those wonderful Epsom Salts we all love to float in!

Float off the excesses

Our 10am opening on the weekend lends itself nicely to a gentle and very effective remedy to that inexplicable monster known as the hangover... trust me it is worth the effort to prise yourself from bed as a float will sort out your head and give you back your day. So if you suspect that you might just exceed a moderate dose one night, try booking a float for the morning after!

We look forward to relaxing you all soon.
