![]() Welcome to another update from floatopia. Be Muscle Kind After what seemed like an interminably cold build up, spring appears to be finally with us. With the lighter evenings and balmier weekends many of you will be dusting off sports equipment and getting physical. With increased activity your muscles will naturally deserve a bit more attention and nothing evens out the kinks and soothes the aches and pains like a float! We have already had a good number of London Marathoners reviving their aching legs here. So give your muscles what they deserve and book in for a float after your workout. ![]() The Book of Floating Michael Hutchison was a reporter for a satirical
New York magazine when he was despatched in the early eighties to write a damning piece on
this latest bit of Californian faddism - floatation. Contrary to his and indeed his editors
expectations he was instantly converted and spent the next two years exhaustively researching
all aspects of floatation - the result is the Book of Floating - the definitive work on the
subject but sadly not published in the UK. Fortunately however floatopia has imported a box
and is selling copies at £17.50 plus P&P.
![]() Swedish Research Research published in the International Journal of Stress Management (May 2006) has added to the volume of evidence that floating is a very effective treatment for stress related symptoms like pain, exhaustion, depression and anxiety. As few as 12 floats were sufficient for 78% of patients to report either a complete recovery or a clear improvement and gratifyingly the positive effects were still in evidence four months after the floatation trial ended. So if you know anyone suffering from "burn-out", exhaustion or simply chronic pain do suggest floatation it certainly can't hurt and it is most likely to help. www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=37946 ![]() Fancy a Free Float? Although I am sure that none of you require any incentive to wax lyrical about the benefits of floatation to friends and family, I would like to remind you that for every three new clients who mention your name as their referral you will receive a free float. It is easy to get them to book online, just send them to www.floatopia.co.uk/booking.htm. ![]() Therapists Due to huge demand Alex Johnson our registered Osteopath is increasing his clinic days at Floatopia - he now works from 9am to 6pm every Tuesday and Friday and by the end of May will be working the same hours on Monday as well. Baby Massage classes have been taking place on Wednesday mornings at 10:15. They are run by Mathilde Barbier who offers courses consisting of 5 consecutive weekly classes for £75. ![]() Quotations in the loos A number of you have asked about the quotes in the loos. They really are chosen randomly. If you go to http://www.quotationspage.com/qotd.html you can get daily quotes to your desktop! ![]() New look newsletter You will have noticed that the newsletter has
got a bit funkier in its presentation, this is thanks to some nice people at Freedm marketing
(www.freedm.co.uk) who are introducing me to HTML! I hope
you like the changes.
