Welcome to another edition of What's Afloat the monthly newsletter from floatopia.

February was a good month at your favourite float centre - we had valentines day and a number of couples got in the mood for love by floating their cares away, we had another TV appearance (will get the MPEG on our website in the next week) and we were invited to share a stall with the Stress Management Association (www.stress.org) at last weeks OneLife exhibition at Olympia. The Stress Management Association is recognised as one of the UK leading resources of stress related matters so it is great that they are recognising the power of floating.

Salt of the earth or is that the water!

As most of you will know we manage to make you float by dissolving over 400kg of Epsom salts in each float room. But did you realise what benefits accrue from the Epsom salts alone regardless of the effect of floatation?

The chemical name for Epsom salts is Magnesium sulphate heptahydrate, magnesium is an essential mineral used in the regulation of over 325 enzymes as well as having a role in the proper functioning of nerves and muscles. As magnesium levels in the soil have become depleted and as it is not a major component of fertilisers we have seen magnesium levels in food declining and thus levels of magnesium deficiency on the increase.

The good news is that magnesium is readily absorbed through the skin and by regular floating you can maintain your magnesium at optimum levels. For more information on this wonder salt check out www.epsomsaltcouncil.org. We also sell 1.5kg Hessian sacks of Epsom Salts at floatopia so why not take some home next time you visit.

Piccadilly Line

Any of you who use the tube to get to floatopia may have looked wistfully at the Piccadilly line platforms at Turnham Green and wondered why the Piccadilly line does not stop at this station. It is a question residents have been asking for years and now in the spirit of modern participative democracy you can petition the government directly by signing an e-petition at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Turnhamgreen/.

Mother's day

Mothering Sunday falls on the 18th of March this year and what better way could there be of showing your appreciation by giving her the rest and relaxation she deserves. Floatation vouchers are available by calling 020 8994 0708.

You wrote the book

Another chance for you to get your floaty thoughts in print as I choose a couple of entries from the visitors book in Februray.

"Took me right back to Barbados where I was last week... people over there are really relaxed and it is nice to feel like a Bajan amongst the hectic Londoners!" CJ

"Truly the most relaxing hour of my life" Indre

That's it for this month, we hope to see you all soon for the ultimate in relaxation here at floatopia.
